Estimating parametric fertility models with open birth interval data.

چکیده
This paper demonstrates the approach of extending "date of last birth" (DLB) techniques to parametric models. Estimators for Coale-Trussell M and m parameters are constructed from open interval lengths. A new procedure was applied to Brazilian census data, producing maps and spatial statistics for "births last year" (BLY) and DLB m estimates in 723 municipalities in Minas Gerais. DLB estimators are less sensitive to sampling error than BLY estimators. This increased precision leads to clearer spatial patterns of fertility control, and to improved regression. This study produced two main points. The first is that parametric fertility models may be estimated from open-interval birth data in straightforward fashion. The second point is that use of DLB data can make a critical difference to the quality of statistical results. DLB data are often available to researchers, but they are seldom used to their full potential. When fertility data are collected in last-birth or open-interval form, the methods expounded in this paper can make significant improvements in the demographic analysis of small samples.

Prognostic factors of first birth interval using the parametric survival models
BACKGROUND In recent years, the study of birth intervals has been a main determinant of the levels of fertility in the populations, as it is associated with rates of fertility and population growth. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to firstly apply survival analysis for modeling of first birth interval and secondly to explore its determinants. MATERIALS AND METHODS In a cross section...

Since determination of factors influencieng childbearing delay can provide convenient approaches to prevent fertility decline, nowadays studying this issue is an important issue for demographers and it is also emphasized by planners and politicians. The aim of this study is to evaluate factors influencing first birth interval among 458, young Iranian married women in Tehran province. In this cr...

BACKGROUND The distribution of birth intervals can be used to draw attention to important characteristics of dynamics of fertility process. The main objective of this paper is to examine the effects of socioeconomic, demographic and proximate determinants on the length of birth intervals of women of Bangladesh and also to see whether the effects are changed over the years. METHODS Birth inter...

متن کاملEFFICIENCY MEASUREMENT OF NDEA WITH INTERVAL DATA
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a non-parametric technique for evaluation of relative efficiency of decision making units described by multiple inputs and outputs. It is based on solving linear programming problems. Since 1978 when basic DEA model was introduced many its modifications were formulated. Among them are two or multi-stage models with serial or parallel structure often called net...
